Hi! Welcome!
I started this company out of desperation, honestly. I wanted to live a life outside both for work AND pleasure. I grew up in Salt Lake City, UT then went cross country to Bates College in Maine for school. I studied Art History and Environmental Politics and took as many English classes as I could on the side. I was first introduced to the outdoor world through my studies.
I spent my post-grad years ski-bumming at Alta Ski Area. Skiing is my anchor in this life and my world revolves around winter. Wanting the same level of outdoor exposure in the summer season I picked up farming. I started as the Greenhouse Manager then became the Flower Operation Manager at an organic farm in Montana and the rest is history. I was, and still am, sold on this lifestyle.
Seeking more creativity and freedom, I moved back to Salt Lake City and started Loose Roots. This company is nearly a complete expression of who I am. Every arrangement is infused with memories of time outside (both literally and figuratively!). Loose Roots Floral is an expression of hard work, sweat and tears, the wind in your face, the smell of tall dry grass, lavender, sage, and juniper, that specific pigment of deep teal on the surface of the ocean, the glow of the sun through the trees, and of course…. that IMPOSSIBLY perfect speckle on a foxglove bell. If the outdoor world speaks to you in this way… you get me and I get you. Let’s enjoy this wild, perfect, natural world together.
Stay loose,
Lauren
